Compass Communication Supports Charity Event

Compass Communication, a Shelby Township based marketing communications company, has lent its support to Parisian’s Annual Charity Day Sale.

The Parisian store at Laurel Park Place in Livonia hosted its fall Charity Day Sale fund-raiser on November 10, 2001 to provide local charitable organizations an opportunity to raise money for their activities.

“This year we raised more than $100,000 for charitable organizations,” said Jackie McDougall, Parisian's Store Manager. Non-profit organizations earned money by selling $5 tickets to attend the event and retained 100% of the proceeds of the ticket sales. The ticket holders received an additional 20% off all purchases made during the private sale and were eligible for hourly prize drawings, a $500 grand prize shopping spree, free gift-wrapping and complimentary refreshments.

“Compass Communication greatly assisted our effort by providing public relations support for the event,” McDougall said. “They partnered with us to support the community and help the non-profits raise funds for their valuable activities and services. For instance, the Adult Well Being Service was able to put in a handicap ramp from their proceeds last year,"""""""" said McDougall.

Compass Communication participated in the event as a part of the company’s 5+5 program through which 5 percent of sales and 5 percent of staff time are donated to non-profits and charitable organizations. “This program recognizes in a small way our appreciation for the support we receive and a commitment to give back to the community we serve,” said Compass President Rod Crider.

The following participating organizations were recipients of the Charity Day sale proceeds:
Marywood Nursing Center, The ARC NW Wayne County, St. Genevieve Women's Club, Livonia Franklin High School, Farmington AAUW, Kiwanis Farmington, Livonia Public Schools, Community Opportunity Center, Livonia YMCA, McKinley Elementary, Discovery Middle School, Livonia Education Association, Active Friends of the Homeless, Detroit Westtown Hartford Lion Club, Meadowbrook Congregational Church, Adult Well Being Service, Barat Child and Family Services, AAUW Livonia, St. Mary Mercy Hospital, Volunteers of America, South Oakland Shelter, Housing for Exceptional People, Birmingham Bloomfield YMCA, Suburban Republican Women, Plymouth YMCA, Detroit Urban League, Habitat for Humanity and Zonta Women of NW Wayne County.
